International Experiences
A goal of the MAS Program is to support engagement with the MAS world not just in Trinity classrooms, but on the ground in the region as well. Each Trinity Study Abroad trip exposes students to everyday social and political issues that affect these developing nations. Furthermore, it is a cultural experience they will never forget.
Majors are strongly encouraged to participate in the numerous study abroad programs offered by the Center for International Engagement, which include opportunities in Spain, Central and South America, Mexico, and beyond. Past students have visited Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Peru, and Cuba, among other destinations.
Study Abroad Opportunities

During a six-week summer program in Madrid, Spain, students work in a variety of settings, conducting all business in Spanish. This international immersion experience gives students the opportunity to live with Spanish families, work in Spanish companies, study Spain with Trinity professors, and explore modern Spanish society.
Trinity professors say that they see students mature in front of their eyes and that students end the session with the ability to speak Spanish effortlessly and with confidence. Students have called the experience "a trip of a lifetime" that represents a true highlight of their time at Trinity.

During recent Madrid programs, students have worked at Spanish elementary schools within one of the largest labor unions in Spain, designed labels for a local wine company, and attended a production of the opera-ballet Carmen. They have visited historical sites including El Escorial, Segovia, and Toledo, toured the Martue winery near Toledo to learn about production methods, and spent a free weekend exploring the cultural life of Barcelona. Along the way, they have made lasting friendships with classmates and their host Spanish families.

Few places in the world contain as much ecological diversity in a relatively small area as Costa Rica. Its complex systems have fostered the evolutionary development of many unique species set in a constantly changing landscape. Students in the Costa Rican Ecology Program will spend a month surveying and sampling a variety of mammals while studying the physical and cultural differences of the country from sea level rainforests to high elevation cloud forests.

Qualified students (BIOL 2413 and CHEM 1318/1118 are prerequisites) have an opportunity for a summer experience that is unlike any other.
BIOL 3440 - Costa Rican Ecology: Monitoring Changing Distribution (4 TU course credits)
This program satisfies the Global Awareness course requirement of the Trinity University Pathways Curriculum.

Explore the many faces of Spain in a full semester experience abroad with Trinity companions. Students are given the opportunity to truly become a part of Spanish life, living with Spanish families and participating in part-time internships at a variety of locations including NGOs, Museums, Cultural and Financial organizations, and schools. Students will truly experience the complex, and multicultural old and contemporary Spain.
Participants will have a wide selection of courses to take while abroad. Students can earn up to 15 hours abroad, some of which count towards Pathways, participate in an internship, and will have the opportunity to travel Spain for 8 days as a part of a pre-program seminar. There are three available tracks for students with beginning to advanced levels of Spanish.

There are three tracks for this program:
In this track, all classes will be conducted in Spanish. It is for the more advanced Spanish speaker who would like to be fully integrated in the Spanish language and business culture of Spain. Students on this program can fulfill courses for Pathways, Spanish, Business, and other disciplines as well as work for 120 hours in an Academic Internship.
In this track, all classes will be conducted in English. It is ideal for: students with little to no Spanish credit who need to fulfill the Trinity University Language requirement through the intermediate level (2301), students looking to fulfill Pathways requirements (Humanities, Oral Visual Communication & Global Awareness), all Business majors and minors, and students who would like to experience Spain.
A third track includes a combination of classes taught in English and Spanish: This track is for those students wanting to take more advanced Spanish classes but want the flexibility of taking some courses in English.
The Trinity in Spain program satisfies the Global Awareness requirement for Pathways, while SPAN 3391 counts toward both the Oral Visual Communication (OVC) and Humanities (HU) requirements. SPAN 2601 applies toward a student's Spanish major or minor, and FNCE 3301 satisfies the Social/Behavioral Sciences requirement for Pathways.
