Getting Around
Exploring San Antonio from Trinity is easy. The campus sits just north of downtown, close to major cultural districts and entertainment areas.
Hop on a bus, bike through neighborhoods, or take a short car ride to downtown, the Pearl, and other favorite destinations. Many of the city’s most popular spots are only minutes away.
Parks, Trails, and the River Walk
Close to campus, Brackenridge Park offers shaded trails, picnic areas, and access to the San Antonio Zoo, the Japanese Tea Garden, and a miniature train. The vibrant San Antonio River Walk connects parks, museums, and neighborhoods throughout the city. The Museum Reach connects several cultural destinations, and the Mission Reach follows the river south to the historic San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Arts and Culture
San Antonio’s arts and cultural scene reflects the city’s rich history and creative energy. San Antonio hosts major concerts, festivals, and cultural events year-round. Students regularly head downtown for live music, touring artists, and large community celebrations. Each spring, Fiesta San Antonio fills the city with parades, food, music, and long-standing traditions. Events such as Luminaria and the Texas Folklife Festival also bring together artists, performers, and visitors from across the region.
Sports and Recreation
With more than 200 city parks and more than 300 days of sunshine each year, outdoor recreation, from biking and kayaking to hiking and running, is part of everyday life in and near San Antonio. Sports are also a major part of the city’s culture. Fans gather downtown to cheer on the San Antonio Spurs, the city’s five-time NBA champions, along with other professional and semi-professional teams.
The Pearl
Just minutes from campus along the River Walk, the Pearl has become one of San Antonio’s most popular gathering places. This revitalized historic brewery district features acclaimed restaurants, independent shops, and a lively weekend farmers market. Students often meet friends here to eat, explore, and attend outdoor concerts, markets, and community events throughout the year.
Dining, Nightlife, and Local Hangouts
San Antonio’s food scene reflects the city’s cultural roots and creativity, from classic Tex-Mex to globally inspired cuisine. Popular areas such as Broadway, the St. Mary’s Strip, and Southtown offer everything from coffee shops and casual dining to live music and late-night spots. The nearby Quarry Market is another favorite destination for shopping, restaurants, and movies.
