Asking for help is a normal part of college learning. Trinity offers several kinds of academic support, and the best starting point depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

If you need help with a course

Start with the people closest to the course, then add specialized support as needed.

  • Review the syllabus and course materials.
  • Visit your professor during office hours or request a meeting.
  • Use peer tutoring or a course-specific support program.
  • Form a study group and begin early rather than waiting until an exam or deadline.

If you need help with writing or quantitative work

Specialized centers can help at any stage—from understanding an assignment to revising a draft or practicing problem-solving strategies.

  • Bring assignment instructions, notes, drafts, or questions.
  • Schedule support early enough to use the feedback.
  • Expect collaboration and skill-building rather than someone completing the work for you.

If the challenge is broader than one assignment

Academic coaching, advising, and accessibility services can help with planning, study strategies, course decisions, accommodations, or a difficult semester.

  • Meet with Academic Success for coaching and study strategies.
  • Talk with your academic adviser about courses and degree planning.
  • Contact Student Accessibility Services to discuss disability-related accommodations.
  • Use health and wellness resources when personal circumstances are affecting academics.
