Student Awards and Recognition
Donald Everett Prize for Outstanding Student in History:
Honors one History major who has excelled in historical work during their time at Trinity.
Philip F. Detweiler Prize:
Best paper written for a 4000-level history seminar (usually 15-30 pages)
The Frances Kellam Hendricks Prize:
Best paper written for a 3000-level history course (usually 5-15 pages)
Terry Smart Prize:
Best paper written for a 2000-level history course (usually 5-15 pages)
Linda Salvucci Prize:
Best individual or student group project (e.g., podcast, website, etc.) from any level of history course
Internships
The history department encourages its students to gain work experience related to their studies through internships at museums, historical landmarks, and government offices. Recent places where history students have interned include:
- San Antonio Museum of Art
- Fort Sam Houston Army Base
- Witte Museum
- Texas Minor League Baseball
Lecture Series and Events
The department regularly sponsors events which draw visiting speakers ranging from professors to activists.
