Areas of Study
Your personalized path spans a global breadth of history.
The department of history offers students the opportunity to explore Africa, the Ancient World, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Native and Indigenous societies, and the United States. Students may elect to study history on a broad scale, or focus their scope on the complexities of a specific region or era. Our small class sizes encourage close work with professors who are active and accomplished scholars. Trinity's history department also works cooperatively with other departments to offer a wide array of interdisciplinary majors and minors.
History Major (B.A.), Minor
Through the History program, you strengthen your skills in research, analysis, and writing. You examine cultures, politics, and ideas across eras while learning to evaluate evidence, ask better questions, and communicate clearly.
Honors Program
The Honors Program is a senior thesis project intended for history majors who show gifted academic skills as well as a comprehensive background in a particular field of historical study.
African American Studies (Minor)
Through the African American Studies minor, you gain an interdisciplinary understanding of the African Diaspora while examining race and ethnicity across fields. You build skills to engage complex issues with clarity and rigor.
International Studies (B.A., Minor)
Understand how global issues shape communities, economies, and societies. Students will explore international challenges through multiple disciplines while building cultural awareness, analytical skills, and a global perspective.
East Asian Studies at Trinity (EAST)
East Asian Studies at Trinity (EAST) is a multifaceted Special Interest Program, combining intensive East Asian language and cultural studies with social science and business studies in an East Asian context.
Film Studies (Minor)
Trinity’s film studies minor gives students the power to understand—and impact—the modern, evolving form of cultural expression that is film.
Medieval and Renaissance Studies (Minor)
The Medieval and Renaissance Studies minor invites you to study the Middle Ages and Renaissance through an interdisciplinary lens, combining history, literature, art, language, and culture.
Museum Studies (Minor)
Museum Studies examines how museums care for collections, create exhibitions, and engage communities. Students combine interdisciplinary learning with hands-on experience in cultural institutions.
