We are excited you have chosen Trinity as your next home. Your Spring New Tiger Orientation (SNTO) experience is going to be worthwhile and exciting as you embark on your next journey. SNTO will take place Sunday, January 10 - Tuesday, January 12, 2027.
From SNTO to your first day of class, our Orientation experience at Trinity is going to set you up for success both inside and outside of the classroom. You’ll get the opportunity to connect early with staff, professors, and your peers, and learn about all the resources on campus that are here to support you throughout your journey at Trinity.

What to Expect
About Spring New Tiger Orientation (SNTO)
SNTO is an orientation for new students to learn and experience all things Trinity from the beloved traditions to the rigorous academics to the breathtaking views and lush greenery.
- Build Community with your fellow transfer students
- Take care of important business, such as academic group advising
- Residence hall move-in (for on-campus students)
- A campus tour hosted by your Orientation Team leaders
Before Orientation Guide
This guide contains all of the important information that you don’t want to miss.
Orientation Preparation
Bring a laptop, tablet, or a writing pad and pen to all orientation sessions.
Some workshops and sessions will have handouts while others may suggest you write crucial notes or important dates for your knowledge.
Submit Photo for Tiger Card (TU ID)
Deadline: January 8th, 5:00pm
All new students are required to submit a valid headshot of their Tiger Card photo.
The Tiger Card is your all-access student ID card from accessing meal plans, laundry, printing, off-campus dining, and more.
On-Campus Student Employment
If you plan on working on or off-campus during your time at Trinity, please remember to bring appropriate forms of identity required for filling out your I9 documentation.
It is imperative that you bring original versions of all necessary documents, copies will not be accepted (this is a Homeland Security requirement, not a Trinity requirement).

Make sure you have all of your essentials when packing and moving into your room or to San Antonio.

Hint: Students can find TrinAlert opt-in or out and review emergency contact information in their Workday Academic Dashboard.
Language and Math Placement Exam information
Language Placement Assessment
Trinity’s Pathways’ Curriculum requires that all students complete an Ancient or Modern Language at the Intermediate I level. As such, all incoming First-Year and Transfer students are asked to take a Language Placement Assessment to ensure that they begin learning at the proper level of instruction. (Note: Students who plan on beginning their Ancient or Modern Language at the Introductory Level I are not required to take the placement assessment).
- Online Language Placement Assessments
- Available for Spanish, French, German, Greek, Latin, and Chinese (simplified and traditional)
- Administered Friday January 8th, 2027 from 11:00am to 12:30pm CDT and again on Friday January 15th, 2027 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm CDT (students may choose to complete their placement assessment on either day and are required to register for the placement assessment the deadline – see details below)
- Language Placement Assessments by Request (administered ad hoc)
- Available for Italian, Japanese, and Russian
To schedule your language assessment, please submit the Spring 2027 Language Placement Assessment Registration form on or before the deadline, Wednesday, January 6th, 2027 (5p.m. CDT). Students who may need accommodations for their language assessment should contact Student Accessibility Services.
Math Placement
All incoming First-Year students (and some incoming Transfer students) who are STEM intending or planning on registering for a Math, Science, or Engineering course (irrespective of pending external credits) are required to complete the appropriate math placement exam(s) before registering for courses for this upcoming semester. Taking the test(s) allows students to register for the correct course level as it seeks to assess curricular proficiency, even before external credits are officially received, evaluated, and transcribed by the university.
- Available starting Monday, January 4th, 2027. The exam will remain open through to Wednesday, January 13th, 2027.
- The deadline for completing the proctored math placement exam is Wednesday, January 13th, 2027.

Spring Student Involvement Fair
Friday, January 17th, 3:00-4:30pm, Esplanade
Come to the biannual Student Involvement Fair hosted by Student Engagement & Development. This is your chance to meet 113+ of our student organizations and sign up to get involved. You will make great friends and memories through these organizations, and as a student leader you will get multiple opportunities to learn about leadership at Trinity and how it extends to your career goals post-graduation.
