Political science professor outlines Fourth Amendment protections as ACLU says warrant is required

KSAT 12 News reported that a viral video showing ICE officers entering a San Antonio home without what residents said was a warrant has renewed questions about constitutional rights during immigration enforcement actions. The story includes commentary from David Crockett, Ph.D.,  a political science professor at Trinity University, who explained that the Fourth Amendment protects “persons, houses, papers and effects” against unreasonable searches and seizures and that those protections largely extend to noncitizens inside the U.S., though rules differ at borders and ports of entry. Read or watch the full story here.
