Ron Nirenberg '99 Discusses New Memoir in Recent Media Interviews
Trinity alumnus and professor shares his personal and professional journey behind his upcoming book.

Ron Nirenberg ’99, a Trinity University alumnus and Calgaard Distinguished Professor of Practice in the Department of Communication, has co-written a memoir with David Lesch, Ph.D., the Ewing Halsell Distinguished Professor of History. Nirenberg describes the book as a “love letter” to his wife and son, one that grew into a broader reflection on his life and tenure as San Antonio Mayor.

Set for release on March 24, Nirenberg: The Education of a Texas Public Servant traces his path to public office and his leadership through crises such as COVID-19 and the 2021 winter storm. The memoir also offers a more personal look at the values and relationships that shaped his approach to governing and his next chapter in public service.

Nirenberg has discussed the book with Texas Public Radio and the San Antonio Express-News.
