David Crockett, Ph.D., political science professor at Trinity University, provided expert commentary on election results on KENS 5 on Tuesday. As the returns came in, Crockett and Jon Taylor Ph.D., a political science professor at UT San Antonio, talked with KENS 5 anchors about Texas Democrats’ historic victory, winning the governor’s office, a U.S. Senate seat, and several other statewide races. The results ended more than three decades of Republican dominance in statewide elections and marked a major political shift in Texas. You can catch some of the conversation at this YouTube link.

Crockett also provided context about the future of the Texas state government under elected Texas Gov. Gina Hinojosa in a piece for WNIN, a public radio affiliate in Indiana as well as  WAMC Northeast Public Radio in New England. Crockett said Hinojosa will have a challenge in working with a Republican-led legislature. “Getting any meaningful legislation through is going to require them to find something they can agree on and that’s not going to be easy," Crockett said.
