A recent study by Redfin, the real estate brokerage company, showed that Gen Zers moved to San Antonio more than to any other U.S. city in 2024, drawn by job opportunities for young people. KSAT 12 reporter Olivia Dague came to Trinity for expert input on the study and spoke with David Macpherson, Ph.D., the E.M. Stevens Professor of Economics and chair of the department of economics.
"It surprised me a bit just how big of an advantage San Antonio had in this time period. I mean, it outranked even Austin, which typically is associated with attracting Gen Z," Macpherson said.
Affordable housing, rich cultural activities, a lively food scene, and even the success of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs are all draws to San Antonio, Macpherson said. Read about Trinity University's ties to San Antonio here.
