American City Business Journals have ranked Trinity University as San Antonio’s most-selective college. According to an article in the San Antonio Business Journal, rankings were based on a weighted formula factoring volume of applications, acceptance rates, and matriculation rates for fall 2024. Two- and four-year schools with lower acceptance rates and higher matriculation rates, after accounting for volumes of applications and total students enrolled, were given higher rankings in overall selectivity among peers.
Trinity University President Vanessa B. Beasley told the Business Journal in a July interview that part of what makes Trinity appealing to applicants is its location. “San Antonio gives Trinity a competitive advantage. No other liberal arts university is in a major city with a growing population, an affordable cost of living and potential across multiple sectors,” the Journal reported.
