An overview of policies related to Student Accommodation Services (SAS).
As a student with a disability at Trinity University, it is important to understand your rights and responsibilities, as well as those of the faculty and SAS.
Files of students with disabilities are considered educational student records and, therefore, are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In accordance with this law, SAS maintains confidentiality of the documentation materials and other information gathered in the process of determining eligibility for services.
If you have general questions or concerns about accommodations or interactions in class or in another campus setting, please contact an SAS representative.
Any student who believe they have been a victim of harassment or discrimination in class or in another campus setting based on a disability-related reason should bring this matter to the Director of Student Accessibility Services by emailing sas@trinity.edu.
Academic grievances involving such matters as the instructor’s conduct of a class or a grade received for a particular test or assignment are to be settled by the concerned instructor and the student. If both parties fail to settle the dispute, either party may appeal to the Associate Provost for Student Success.
Students with grievances or complaints against the University based on violations of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA) also have the right to file a complaint with a designated federal agency.
