Trinity University alum Megan Selmon Kelly ’03 credits her experiences as a student-athlete on the Tigers’ 2003 NCAA Division III national championship basketball team with helping prepare her for a 21-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service. Megan Selmon Kelly ’03 says it was a senior-year study abroad program in the U.K. that gave her a renewed sense of purpose on the Trinity University basketball court, as the Tigers took the 2003 Division III title. Kelly told the Division III sports recruiting site YD3, that Trinity provided a foundation of rigorous academics and team sports that gave her the tools to be successful in her 21-year career in U.S. foreign service.

After graduation, Kelly’s diverse work situations included overseeing a detention facility operated by the U.S. Department of Defence and six years working for the U.S. Mission to NATO. Kelly now directs executive training at the U.S. State Department’s National Foreign Affairs Training Center near Washington, D.C. Read the entire YD3 article about Kelly here.
