Apply as an International Student
If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident, you should apply to Trinity as an international student, regardless of where you attended secondary school.
For the application process, this is the citizenship status you currently hold.
Students in the application process for US permanent residency should apply as international students.|
US Citizens and US permanent residents schooling outside of the US should follow the general first-year application process.
This guide walks you through the application process, required materials, financial aid options, and next steps for enrolling at Trinity.
Application Deadlines
International first-year applicants follow the same decision plans and deadlines as other first-year applicants.

How to Apply as an International Student
Step 1
Submit Your Application
Trinity accepts the Common Application or the Coalition Application for international applicants.
There is no fee for applications submitted online.
Step 2
Submit School Records
Submit official secondary school records or transcripts.
Requirements:
- All records must be submitted in English
- If records are not in English, submit certified English translations with the official records
- Records must be submitted by a school counselor or school official to be considered official
- Student-submitted records will not be accepted
Submission options:
- Upload through the Common Application or Coalition Application (preferred)
- Submit to @email from the counselor or school official's school email address
- Submit officially by mail through your school counselor or school official
Step 3
Submit English Proficiency Test Scores
Trinity requires proof of English language proficiency for all international applicants.
Accepted tests:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- Duolingo English Test
Recommended scores:
- TOEFL: 5.5
- IELTS: 7.0
- Duolingo: 130
Important:
TOEFL and IELTS scores can be self-reported for free using your Trinity application portal. Duolingo English Test results must be submitted directly from the testing service.
Trinity does not accept superscoring for English proficiency tests.
TOEFL MyBest scores are not accepted.
English Proficiency Waiver
Waiver request forms are available in your Trinity application portal.
Waivers are available for students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
English is your first language and the primary language spoken in your home.
English is your first language and the primary language of your home country.
English is the language of instruction for the final four consecutive years of your secondary school education. Students enrolled in English language support/learning courses during their final 4 years of school are not eligible for a waiver.
Trinity reserves the right to request an English proficiency test from any applicant based on their application materials.
Step 4
Submit Letters of Recommendation
Submit the following:
Secondary School Report
Ask an adviser, counselor, or headmaster from the last educational institution you attended to complete the Secondary School Report and submit a letter of recommendation.
- Teacher Evaluation
Ask one of your instructors from a core academic subject to complete the Teacher Evaluation Form and submit a letter of recommendation.
Step 5
Submit Financial Aid Materials
International Student Financial Aid Agreement
All international applicants are required to submit the International Student Financial Aid Agreement located in their Trinity application portal.
Applications will not be reviewed until this form is completed.
Applicants who do not intend to apply for need-based financial aid are not required to submit additional financial information to complete their application. Enrolling students will be required to submit bank statements and certifications of financing before the I-20 or DS20-19 can be issued.

CSS Profile for International Students
Trinity does not offer CSS Profile fee waivers.
The CSS Profile must be submitted officially through the College Board website. Screenshots will not be accepted.

Available in your Trinity application portal.
Please complete all fields in English, using USD for all calculations.
Important
All financial aid materials must be submitted by Trinity s published application deadlines. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Students who do not intend to apply for need-based aid must still complete the International Student Financial Aid Agreement in their Trinity application portal.

After you submit your application, you will receive access to your applicant portal, where you can track your status and next steps.

How We Review International Applicants
Trinity reviews international applications holistically. We consider your academic record, the rigor of your coursework, your writing, your extracurricular involvement, and your recommendations. We also consider all applicants in the context of their application environment. For example, we know that some education systems only offer 3 year secondary school programs, and in many regions of the world non-academic school activities may be limited. We encourage you to share any context surrounding your educational experience in your application materials.
International applicants should typically complete:
- 4 years of literature, writing, and/or grammar
- 3 years of college preparatory mathematics, including algebra II and either trigonometry, precalculus, or statistics
- 3 years of science, including at least 2 years of laboratory science
- 3 years of social science
- 2 years of the same foreign language (this can be English if that is not the language of instruction for your secondary school coursework)
We will also consider interviews submitted through platforms such as InitialView and Vericant submitted during the application process. Interviews are not required for international applicants.
