Vanessa B. Beasley, Ph.D.
President, Trinity University
Vanessa B. Beasley, Ph.D. began her tenure in July 2022 as Trinity University’s 20th president in the school’s 153-year history. Guided by the University’s student-centered mission and vision, Beasley stands ready to lead one of the nation’s top liberal arts universities.
Beasley, Trinity’s first female president, previously served as vice provost for academic affairs, dean of residential faculty, and an associate professor of communication studies at Vanderbilt University. Beasley’s areas of academic expertise include the rhetoric of American presidents, political rhetoric on immigration, and media and politics. She attended Vanderbilt as an undergraduate and earned a bachelor of arts in speech communication and theatre arts. She also holds a Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. L. Herbert Stumberg Jr. ‘81
L. Herbert Stumberg, Jr. is president of Air Measurement Technologies, a San Antonio firm that designs and develops digital pressure and temperature computers for firefighters. Previously, he was a partner with Ryckman & Associates, which oversees real estate partnerships, and co-founder of Orca Industries, which developed underwater decompression computers for scuba divers. Mr. Stumberg earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Trinity University in 1981and a master’s of business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Joy Areola ’25
Student Speaker
Joy Areola ’25 is a senior human resource management major with a minor in finance from The Woodlands, Texas. Joy is a former student-athlete competing for Trinity’s track and field team, but she also participates in many organizations on campus, including the Student Government Association (current President), the Office of Admissions, the African Student Association, and the SPURS Sorority. She hopes to ultimately pursue a master’s degree in health care administration and hopes to use her experiences at Trinity to achieve that goal!
