Summary
San Antonio is named to Oxford Economics’ 2026 “Cities to Watch” list, part of its Global Cities Index analysis. The economic advisory firm highlighted the city’s consistent GDP growth and steady employment gains, reflecting San Antonio’s sustained economic momentum compared with other major U.S. metros.

San Antonio is one of just four U.S. cities to make economic advisory firm Oxford Economics’ 28 “Cities to Watch,” reported on by the San Antonio Business Journal. The Global Cities Index is based on information from a team of 40 economists with expertise in spatial data, urban dynamics, and forecasting. The other U.S. cities on the list were Boise, Idaho, Durham, North Carolina, and Jacksonville, Florida.

“Texas’s metros have outpaced most leading U.S. metros, but San Antonio has done so at a quieter and more balanced pace than its larger state peers,” Oxford Economics analysts noted in the new report. “Its consistent GDP growth over the last few years, together with steady employment gains, has helped it emerge as a city to watch.” Read the whole report here.
