Trinity University’s Ivanna Bass Caldera ’26 co-wrote Texas Public Radio’s story on San Antonio’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day March. In the story, Caldera highlighted how a tradition that began with just 10 people shortly after Dr. King’s assassination has evolved into the nation’s largest annual MLK march, drawing hundreds of thousands of participants along a nearly three-mile route on the East Side to honor his legacy while also addressing ongoing community and civil rights concerns.
Caldera is a senior double-majoring in Communication and Global Latinx Studies with a minor in Spanish. Through experiential learning opportunities with Texas Public Radio and the local chamber nonprofit Agarita, as well as her role as a radio show host at KRTU 91.7 FM, Trinity’s radio station, she is connecting her academic studies with professional journalism and media practice.
