During a recent food drive, Trinity’s Greek Life Council had an ambitious goal of collecting 500 pounds of food for the San Antonio Food Bank.

After three weeks of hard work, they nearly tripled their goal, seeing on-campus donations from students, faculty, staff, and friends surge to 1,889 pounds of food across more than 250 donations. Students delivered these supplies, which stacked up impressively on campus, to the Food Bank at the end of March. That’s 1,511 meals going to the San Antonio community, one of the fastest growing urban areas in the nation.

“This is how the Greek Council turns campus engagement into tangible community impact,” said Connor Philpot ’28, an accounting and finance double major, Chi Delta Tau member, and service chair for Trinity’s Greek Life Council. “It’s amazing to see how much impact Trinity can have on the community. The support from faculty, staff, and students truly shows what we can accomplish when we all come together.”

Greek Life at Trinity is distinct from the general mold of fraternities and sororities nationwide, with most of these organizations locally-run and originally founded by Trinity students. Members join through a deferred rush that helps them focus on academics, and engage in programming built around service and community.
