A Forbes article reports that San Antonio, home to Trinity University, was the top destination for Gen Z people moving to new cities in 2024, adding a net 10,678 young residents, while New York lost 29,554.
Fellow Texas cities Austin and Dallas claimed two of the other top-five destinations for Gen Z. Young Americans aren’t necessarily abandoning big cities, the article reports, but rather opting out of long-distance moves. San Antonio is among the metropolitan areas that offer access to large-city jobs and amenities at a lower housing cost than places like New York.
