Apply as a Transfer Student

You are considered a transfer applicant if, by the time you enroll at Trinity, you will have completed at least 12 college credit hours after graduating from high school or earning a GED.

This guide walks you through each step of the process and what you’ll need to submit.

How to Apply as a Transfer Student

  1. Step 1

    Submit Your Application

    Complete the transfer application using the Common Application.

    All required forms, including recommendations and reports, are available within the Common Application.

  2. Step 2

    Submit Required Documents

    You will need to submit:

    • Personal essay (via Common Application)
    • College instructor academic evaluation
    • Registrar report (or Common Application college report)

  3. Step 3

    Submit Transcripts

    Submit official transcripts from all institutions you have attended.

    This includes:

    • All colleges or universities
    • Your high school transcript (must show graduation date)
       

    Important:

    • Transcripts must be sent directly from each institution
    • Hand-carried transcripts are not accepted
    • If you are currently enrolled in your first semester, you should also submit a mid-term report.

  4. Step 4

    Submit Test Scores (Optional)

    Trinity is test-optional. You may choose to submit SAT or ACT scores.

    • Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency or included on an official high school transcript
    • Trinity will superscore by combining your highest section scores across test dates
       

    Note:
    International applicants must still submit one of the following: SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English test scores

  5. Step 5

    Submit Course Information (for Transfer Credit)

    To receive transfer credit, submit course descriptions for each course you would like evaluated.

    Course descriptions can be compiled into a single document and submitted to @email.

  6. Step 6

    Track Your Application

    After submitting your application, you will receive access to your applicant portal, where you can track your status and next steps.

How We Review Transfer Applicants

Applications are reviewed holistically. We consider your academic performance in both high school and college, along with your experiences and involvement.

As part of your application, you will be asked to explain your interest in transferring to Trinity.

 

Transferring Credits

Transfer credit is evaluated after admission. The Office of the Registrar will review your transcripts and course descriptions to determine which credits will transfer.

Key Points:

  • Courses must have a grade of C- or higher to transfer
  • Not all credits may apply toward your major or core curriculum
  • Some courses may transfer as elective credit

Graduation Requirements at Trinity:

  • Complete at least 60 credit hours at Trinity
  • Complete at least 18 credit hours in the Pathways Curriculum
  • Complete at least 15 credit hours in each major (12 upper division)
  • Complete your final 30 credit hours at Trinity

What to Know Before You Apply

Academic Schedule
Classes are held during the day, generally between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Limited evening courses are available, and Trinity does not offer online or weekend course options.

International Coursework
International coursework must be evaluated and translated by an approved credential agency. See our Guide for International Applicants for more information.
