As the Director of Trinity's Environmental Studies Program, I encourage students to pursue truly interdisciplinary modes of inquiry and action. In doing so, they will identify and solve different kinds of environmental problems using the new knowledge that emerges from combining the natural sciences, policy, and arts and humanities. I value this interdisciplinary approach in my own research, which focuses on twentieth and twenty-first century American literature, particularly nature poetry and nature writing more generally.
