Doug retired in 2000 after 40 years at Trinity. He is the author of numerous books and articles in the field of American religious history. His research and writing have focused primarily on denominational studies (Presbyterianism) and new religious movements (Mormonism). His articles have appeared most recently in the Journal of Presbyterian History and the Journal of Mormon History. An Ohio native, he has lived in San Antonio since 1962.
