• Dr. Carolyn Black Becker is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the implementation of evidence-based psychotherapy. She is board certified in behavioral and cognitive therapy. Her primary research areas include body image, eating disorders, PTSD, and exposure therapy. 

    Dr. Becker has published numerous peer-reviewed papers, many with Trinity University students and alumni. She has also published several books, including Exposure Therapy for Eating Disorders, published by Oxford University Press. Dr. Becker is past president of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology (SSCP), and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. 

    Dr. Becker has received numerous awards including the AED Research Practice Partnership Award, the Lori Irving Award for Excellence in Eating Disorders Prevention and Awareness from the National Eating Disorders Association, a 2011-2012 Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, a 2017 Piper Professor outstanding teaching award, and the 2024 SSCP Lawrence H Cohen Outstanding Mentor Award.
