As library liaison to the Chinese section of the department of modern languages and literatures, the sport management minor, and the health and physical education offerings, I team with instructors of various courses to develop information literacy skills in their students. But most of my time is devoted to helping provide a library collection that supports our work as students and scholars.

Like a good many other librarians, I discovered this career path in my mid-thirties, after earning a couple of degrees in French and enjoying a few years of teaching college students. I began my career as a librarian in Trinity's Coates Library, assuming I would move on after 2-3 years. But I surprised myself by becoming attached quite quickly to the school and the city, and that remains the case today. As for librarianship, it's fascinating to be part of the enormous shifts in information creation, sharing, and preservation that these last 20 years have seen--with even more developments on their way.

Community Service & Involvement

Nature predominates in my volunteer activities. I'm a board member of the Land Heritage Institute Foundation, member and past-president of the San Antonio chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas, and a member of the steering committee for the Olmos Park Terrace Community Garden.

I serve on the University Curriculum Council as the library representative and on the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee.

And I never miss a chance to work off a few calories as part of the Team Trinity move-in event every August!
