First-Year Experience: A Successful Life

All Skyline Scholars are enrolled in A Successful Life, a First-Year Experience course that explores how we define and pursue meaningful success.

  • Examine how individuals define success across disciplines
  • Explore challenges in creative and scientific achievement
  • Reflect on your goals for your first year and beyond

This course concludes before Thanksgiving, giving you an early start and a lighter workload at the end of the semester.

Workshops and Skill Building

In addition to coursework, you’ll participate in daily workshops designed to support your transition to college.

Topics may include:

  • Study strategies and time management
  • Academic and library resources
  • Wellness and mindfulness
  • Career exploration and study abroad
  • Building effective learning and coping strategies
  • Getting involved on campus

Program Details

Skyline Scholars is designed to remove barriers and help you begin your Trinity experience with confidence.

  • Invitation-based program for selected incoming students
  • No cost to participate, including housing and all meals for the two-week program
  • Move into your permanent residence hall for the academic year
  • Begin building connections with peers, faculty, and campus resources before the semester starts

Participant Eligibility

Invitations to join the Skyline Scholars program are sent mid-May via email to incoming students who meet any of the following criteria:

Your First Semester

Skyline Scholars gives you a structured start to your academic and campus experience before the semester begins.

Step 1

Move In Early

Move to campus two weeks before the semester begins and settle into your 
residence hall.

Step 2

Begin Your FYE Course

Start the First-Year Experience course, A Successful Life, and engage with college-level learning in a supportive setting.

Step 3

Build Skills Through Workshops

Attend daily workshops focused on academic success, campus resources, and personal wellbeing.

Step 4

Connect with Community

Build relationships through social activities, service opportunities, and peer support.

 

Students invited to join the program are encouraged to confirm interest in participation as soon as possible and no later than the deadline. If there is more interest than space allowed, students who meet multiple criteria will be prioritized for the incoming Skyline Scholar cohort. Final confirmation of program participation will be required once the final cohort has been determined.
