Trinity University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
Laying the groundwork for our next big leap in student success and learning

If you’ve been at Trinity University for many years, you probably remember a time before the Tiger Learning Commons (TLC), the Quantitative Reasoning and Skills Center (QRS), early alerts, and professional advisers. However, if you’ve only been at Trinity for a few years, those things probably feel like core aspects of the first-year student experience Trinity prides itself on, and you might be surprised to hear that they all grew out of Trinity’s last Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) called Starting Strong: Intentional Strategies for Improving First-Year Student Success at Trinity University in 2017.

While a QEP is an important part of accreditation, more significantly, it is an opportunity to think big and develop a plan to enhance a core aspect of the Trinity student experience.

Trinity’s next accreditation review will be in 2027-28, and we are already beginning to prepare for it. The first step in that process is selecting a topic for Trinity’s next QEP. To that end, a QEP Topic Selection Committee, including faculty, staff, a student, and an alum (see below), has been created. Over the next couple of months, the committee will develop a process for selecting a QEP topic.

In the fall, you will hear more about the process and how to submit your ideas. Your first opportunity to share what you’re thinking will come in August at the University Symposium, where we’ll all gather in small groups to ideate. In the meantime, start brainstorming topics that are related to Trinity’s mission and focused on student learning or student success. Think big! The QEP should impact student learning or student success for the majority of students, not just a subgroup.
