The Crisis Management Team has been closely watching the developing winter weather expected in our area this weekend. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in San Antonio will drop below freezing from around 6 p.m. Saturday until noon on Sunday. We expect freezing rain and light ice accumulation during this timeframe. Overnight Sunday, temperatures will again drop below freezing until mid-morning Monday.
Before the freezing weather, Facilities Operations will spread eco-friendly de-icer to make sidewalks, ramps and outdoor stairs safer, but students should remain indoors as much as possible and use caution when walking outside. Everyone is asked to pay special attention to areas that are cordoned off, such as campus fountains and stairs.
During this period of winter weather, everyone is encouraged to:
- Monitor local weather conditions
- Dress in layers, such as jackets, sweaters, gloves, and sweats
- Students living on campus should please keep windows, balcony and exterior corridor doors closed to contain heat within the residence halls
- Have extra snacks, water, and meals available to avoid going out in inclement conditions.
- Make sure your devices are charged, including portable chargers.
Students, for facilities issues and concerns, contact your RA on duty, or call Facilities Services at 210-999-8413. To report an emergency, contact TUPD at 210-999-7000; for non-emergencies, call 210-999-7070.
Through Saturday, activities and events on campus will continue as planned.
The Library will follow normal hours on Saturday, with delayed opening at noon on Sunday.
The Bell Center will close at 10 p.m. Saturday night, with delayed opening at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Mabee Dining Hall will close at 8 p.m. Saturday and will reopen on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All other retail locations will be closed on Sunday. Visit dineoncampus.com/trinityu for the latest information and updates.
Only essential staff will be on campus, including TUPD, Facilities Operations, and Chartwells Dining, who will have members of their teams available to support students.
The Crisis Management Team will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend. An update on campus operations will be shared by 3 p.m. on Sunday. Be weather-aware the next few days, and please exercise caution when icy conditions are present. Be safe, Tigers!
