The idea behind the one-day Big Give is to turn giving into a shared citywide experience, with the hope of significantly impacting the future of San Antonio and beyond. This year, the Big Give S.A. includes eligible organizations in Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, Uvalde, and Wilson County.
Throughout the year, Trinity faculty, staff, students, and alumni give back to San Antonio in countless ways. Each year, Trinity students volunteer more than 120,000 hours in community agencies that help the homeless, the environment, urban planning, and health programs, among others.
Students, faculty, and staff also take part in the United Way’s annual Days of Caring activity. This year, as part of the inauguration of Trinity president Danny Anderson, some 500 volunteers held the “Trinity Gives Back” day of service to benefit area agencies, schools, and parks.
Since 2002, the Trinity University Press has published original, compelling, and imaginative work that furthers Trinity’s commitment to educate for “the personal, lifelong quest for understanding of oneself and one’s place in the world.” The Press has published more than 100 books that have won a range of accolades and awards.
KRTU is a licensed, professional radio station with a jazz and indie/alternative rock format that has been in operation since 1976. It offers an opportunity for students to learn about professional broadcasting and fills a niche in San Antonio for jazz programming. Donations to KRTU will be used to upgrade its tower, increasing the station’s radio signal strength.
